Pastor Sylvia Denise Folks
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

Psalm 133:1 (New International Version)

slviaDfolksSylvia is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. She was born into a large and loving family. She is married to Reverend Eugene Folks Jr. and they currently reside in Madison, Alabama. Sylvia and Eugene are the proud parents of two sons, Jamaal D. (LaShaun) Folks and Xavier D. Folks. They have two grandchildren Noah and Nyla Folks.

Sylvia personally accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. She was raised in a Christian family and continues to strive daily to walk closer with the Lord. Sylvia served this great nation, as an Army Spouse, for more than 21 years, due to Eugene’s extended tour of service, as a professional Army Soldier. Over the course of those 21 years, Sylvia and her family united with four churches, True Vine Outreach Ministries, El Paso, Texas, under the leadership of Bishop Eric and Pastor Connie Howard; Greater Community Missionary Baptist Church (GCMBC), St. Robert, Missouri, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. William R. Boone, Senior Pastor; New Hope Missionary Baptist Church (NHMBC), Wiesbaden, Germany, under the leadership of the late Reverend Joseph L. Freeman Jr., Senior Pastor; and Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church (PGMBC), Harvest, Alabama, where Reverend C. Jermaine Turner is Senior Pastor.

Sylvia has always been and continues to be diligent and faithful in her church service to the community. She served alongside her husband, for 22 months, as a GCMBC Volunteer in Corrections for the Jail & Prison Ministry, in the Missouri State Correctional system. She served as a member of the adult/mass choirs of her previous three and current church; she served as a member of the GCMBC praise team. Since 2003, Sylvia has worked alongside her husband faithfully leading the Marriage/Couples Ministry and ministering in the area of Marriage and Relationship. Sylvia possess God-given talents and passion for the well-being of women. At PGMBC, she served on the Mother Board; she served as a member of the Majestic Spirit and mass choirs and she co-led the PGMBC couples ministry, with her husband. She is the founder and visionary for the annual “Sistah-2-Sistah” community women conference that is rapidly becoming nationally recognized, as a retreat for women.
